Headline: Meet The 90-Year-Old Care Home Residents Transforming Into The Cast Of Love Actually

Caption: WORDS BYLINE: Rebecca Nicholson At Chorleywood Manor Care Home, in Buckinghamshire, love really is all around. Inspired by its themes of love and connection, online care finder Lottie has partnered with Chorleywood Manor Care Home to create a Love Actually-themed video celebrating carers across the UK, featuring care home residents with an average age of 91, recreating the iconic “To me, you are perfect” cue card scene. This festive tribute is more than just a charming reimagining; it’s a heartfelt thank-you to the UK’s 7.3 million carers, whose unwavering dedication often goes unnoticed. For Yvonne, 88, the support of her carer Patrick has been life-changing. After a stroke left her unable to paint with her right hand, Yvonne thought she’d lost her creative spark forever. But Patrick, the Well-Being Coordinator at Chorleywood Manor, encouraged her to try painting with her left hand. “He helped me believe in myself again,” Yvonne shares. Their creative partnership has led to award-winning artwork displayed proudly in the care home. Eric, 93, has found friendship and laughter in his carer Wendy. Their bond is built on simple joys, like regular outings to The Pennsylvanian pub in Rickmansworth and bus trips around the local area. “Wendy’s got a brilliant sense of humour,” Eric says, grinning. “She’s made my life here full of fun and adventure.” Meanwhile, Ann, who at 99 is the oldest resident featured, shares a special connection with her carer Ola. Their days are filled with garden walks, song-filled moments, and heartfelt conversations. Ann often imparts life advice, urging Ola to “be patient and not rush into marriage.” She affectionately describes their relationship as, “We’re two peas in a pod.” The heartwarming Love Actually-inspired videos shows the residents surprising their carers by holding cue cards featuring messages of gratitude, such as “You are unsung heroes” and “Thank you for all that you do.” Despite being released 21 years ago, Love Actually remains a Christmas classic, watched by millions each holiday season. “This campaign is about more than celebrating carers,” explains Will Donnelly, Co-Founder of Lottie, the online care finder behind the project. “It’s about showing the magic that happens in care homes—the friendships, the joy, and the small acts of kindness that mean so much.” In a world that often overlooks carers’ contributions, this festive video offers a simple yet powerful message: love, in all its forms, can be life-changing.
