Caption: A chiropractor's guide to injury-free skiing and snowboarding. British Chiropractic Association (BCA) member and chiropractic healthcare professional, Dean Blackstock shares his top tips to keep you on your feet and injury-free, both before and during your trip. Prepare, prepare, prepare In the weeks leading up to your trip, strengthen your legs, core, and balance. “With simple conditioning exercises such as squats, planks, and lunges. This improves performance, prevents injuries, and enhances recovery.” Make an appointment. Prevention is always better than cure. ”Seeing a healthcare professional before your trip ensures optimal movement, reducing the risk of discomfort or injuries.” Warm up Before hitting the slopes, take 10 minutes for a quick warm-up. ”Try some squats, gentle walking lunges, or marching on the spot. Then, spend a few minutes walking around outside in the snow to get your blood flowing and lubricate your joints.” Listen to your body. Fatigue increases the risk of accidents. ”Take breaks, enjoy the views, and rehydrate. If you feel any discomfort, rest or seek help. Don't push through it.” Stretch it out. It’s important to take some time to stretch after skiing or snowboarding to avoid tightness and soreness. “Take a short 5-minute walk and stretch out any tight areas. A proper cool-down helps reduce muscle soreness and speeds up recovery." Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
