Caption: Volkswagen To Cut 50,000 Jobs In Germany By 2030. Volkswagen has announced plans to cut around 50,000 jobs in Germany by 2030 after its profits fell to their lowest level in almost a decade. Chief executive Oliver Blume said the reductions would affect the entire Volkswagen Group, including Audi and Porsche. Europe’s largest carmaker reported that post-tax profits fell by around 44% in 2025. Volkswagen blamed US import tariffs, intense competition from Chinese manufacturers and high restructuring costs linked to the transition to electric vehicles. The company expects its performance to recover in the coming year, but says it must continue to reduce costs rigorously. Volkswagen had previously agreed with unions to cut more than 35,000 German jobs by 2030 in what it described as a socially responsible manner, as part of plans to save around €15 billion.
