Headline: US Tallest Skyscraper Plan Gets Height Approval
Caption: Plans for a new skyscraper set to be the tallest in the United States have received height approval from Oklahoma City. The Legends Tower is set to rise over a mixed-use development of four towers in total, called Boardwalk at Bricktown. The mixed uses for the development have currently been allocated to two Hyatt hotels, residential units, and retail and restaurants. While three of the towers in the development will rise to 345 feet (105 metres) tall, the fourth tower – named the Legends Tower – will stand at 1,907 feet (581 metres) tall. The skyscraper would break the current record for the tallest tower in the United States of America, currently awarded to the 1,776-foot-tall (541 metres) One World Trade Centre in New York. It would also mark the sixth tallest skyscraper in the world, behind the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (2,717ft), Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur (2,228ft), Shanghai Tower in Shanghai (2,073ft), and Makkah Royal Clock Tower in Mecca (1,972ft). According to The Oklahoman local news outlet, the project secured its full funding of $1.5 billion (£1.2 billion) in early March. Site preparation for the development could begin as early as June this year.
