Headline: Dorothy's Ruby Slippers And Wicked Witch's Hat Among Hollywood Treasures Heading To Auction
Caption: Dorothy's famous ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz are soon to be auctioned as part of an impressive film memorabilia collection. The slippers are one of only four pairs and have a storied past, having been stolen in 2005 from the Judy Garland Museum and recovered in 2018 through an FBI investigation. Consigned by collector Michael Shaw, the pair was featured in close-up scenes where Dorothy clicks her heels. Set for December 7, Heritage Auction's Hollywood/Entertainment Signature Auction will include other iconic items. Another highlight is the Wicked Witch of the West's hat worn by Margaret Hamilton, also from Shaw's collection. The Wicked Witch's hat, marked with "M. Hamilton 4461-164," was designed by famed MGM costume designer Adrian. Beyond The Wizard of Oz, the auction features memorabilia from other beloved films, including the screen door from Dorothy's Kansas farmhouse and the Cowardly Lion's gloves. Highlights include a painting of the ruby slippers by Bill Mack on a piece of the original Hollywoodland sign. Heritage's event also features props from The Godfather, Jumanji, Star Trek, and Back to the Future Part II, with some proceeds supporting The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
