Examples include persistent misgendering, deadnaming, and invasive questions about their transition or body from colleagues and supervisors. Trans employees were 2 to 4 times more likely than cisgender LGBTQ workers to be fired, not hired, or denied career advancement opportunities within the past year. The report found 36% of trans respondents are not out to their supervisors, while 71% alter their voice or mannerisms to conceal their identity. Half of the trans respondents were people of color, and 60% reported earning less than $50,000 annually, underscoring systemic inequities. Among those who faced discrimination, 65% reported verbal harassment, 34% physical harassment, and 42% sexual harassment in the workplace. The report revealed 67% of trans workers left a job due to mistreatment, highlighting the significant toll on employment stability. Brad Sears, the report's lead author, emphasized the need for supportive work environments, noting that hostile conditions prevent trans employees from fully contributing to their employers.
