Headline: New Baby Monitor Can 'Translate Babies' Cries Using AI'
Caption: For parents, trying to work out what their babies’ cries mean can be an extra headache on top of all the other responsibilities that come with parenthood. However, a new baby monitor product promises to break the communication barrier between parents and infant. The Maxi-Cosi See Pro 360° Baby Monitor is equipped with CryAssist technology powered by artificial intelligence, which the firm claims can decode a baby's cries providing caregivers with a better understanding of the child's needs. Distinguishing itself from conventional smart monitors that merely detect cries, this AI-infused baby monitor helps determine whether the child is sleepy, fussy, gassy, agitated, or hungry. It enables parents to remotely monitor their infants through a 5” display with two-way talk and MicroSD card recording, or via their smartphones. The AI developer Zoundream harnessed the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, drawing from over 100,000 hours of crying baby recordings and other data inputs, to create CryAssist. Its Acoustic MultiStage Interpreter continuously analyses the ambient sound using multi-stage, deep-learning models to decode the meaning behind babies' cries. The technology boasts cry detection accuracy just shy of 90% and cry translation accuracy exceeding 90%. The See Pro 360° also incorporates standard baby monitor features and is available to buy from $199 (£157.35).
