Caption: Burnham And Macron Agree To Step Up Action On Small Boats. Prime Minister Andy Burnham and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to scale up efforts to tackle illegal migration across the English Channel. Macron became the first foreign leader hosted by Burnham in Downing Street since he became prime minister in July. The two leaders discussed closer UK-French cooperation on small boats as well as strengthening Britain's wider relationship with the European Union. They also discussed plans to support the production of long-range missiles in Ukraine. Burnham raised Israeli plans for new settlements in the West Bank, which he described as “unacceptable”. The prime minister said cooperation with France demonstrated what the two countries could achieve together, while Macron expressed his commitment to bringing Britain and France closer. The French president was visiting the UK primarily to mark the loan of the Bayeux Tapestry to the British Museum, where he met King Charles ahead of the medieval artwork going on public display next week.
