The decision also comes amid widespread concerns over Israel's plan to invade the Gazan city of Rafah, where over 1 million Palestinian refugees are sheltering. 'The Independent' reports that the U.S. had previously blocked three attempted Security Council resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The outlet reports that the U.S. has vetoed 89 resolutions brought before the Security Council since 1945, over half of those resolutions were critical of Israel.
