Caption: Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales visit site of Taylor Swift dance class stabbing. William and Catherine visited Southport on Wednesday to join the town in paying respects to the victims and their families. Three children were killed on 29 July, and ten other people were injured as they took part in a Taylor Swift-themed yoga and dance class during the school holidays. The royal couple met with firefighters, police, ambulance and air ambulance crew at the Southport Community Centre to talk about their experience of responding to the attack, and how it impacted their mental health. They also spoke to mental health professionals who have been providing support to the first responders. They also privately met the families of the three children who died during the attack, as well as the dance teacher who was in the room. After the visit, which coincided with World Mental Health Day, the pair posted a statement on their Instagram page. ”A heartfelt thank you to the people of Southport for talking about your experiences and honouring the young lives lost. In the face of tragedy, this community's strength and resilience has been a powerful reminder of the bonds that unite us.” "As the healing continues, take comfort in the incredible support around you. Each shared memory, act of kindness, and moment of unity brings hope for the future and ensures that those lost are never forgotten.” The visit marks Catherine's first official public engagement since she completed her chemotherapy treatment last month for an unknown form of cancer.
