Caption: India's Engineering Exports Jump 21% as Shipments to China Surge. India’s engineering goods exports rose 21% year-on-year in June to $11.48 billion, marking the third consecutive month the sector has surpassed the $10 billion mark. The increase was driven by strong demand from major overseas markets, with exports to China soaring 74% to $361.5 million compared with the same month last year. The U.S. remained India's largest export destination for engineering products, accounting for nearly $2 billion in shipments during the month, while exports to Oman also recorded a sharp increase. Engineering products accounted for 28.4% of India's total merchandise exports in June, underlining the sector's importance to the country's trade performance. During the first quarter of the 2026/27 fiscal year, engineering exports climbed 18.1% to $34.14 billion, maintaining strong momentum despite global trade uncertainties. The Engineering Export Promotion Council said the industry remained resilient even as shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz increased freight costs and complicated logistics. Industry officials said continued government support will be needed to sustain export growth as geopolitical tensions and global trade risks continue to weigh on international commerce.
