Associated Press reports that Nashville city council members have rejected plans for a sign at Morgan Wallen's new bar. Council members cited controversy over Wallen's use of a racial slur in 2021 and recent criminal charges for throwing a chair off a roof near two law enforcement officers. "I don’t want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who is throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs.", Delishia Porterfield, Nashville council member, via Associated Press. Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen is scheduled to open this weekend. "The fact that someone’s name is going up on a bar doesn’t mean that we condone all the behavior, but again I appreciate the efforts to make amends, the positive response.” "and again, the operator themselves I don’t think should be penalized for what happened.", Jacob Kupin, Nashville council member, via Associated Press. AP reports that the initial hearing for Wallen's criminal case has been postponed until August 15. The charges against Wallen include three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. In 2023, Wallen's album 'One Thing at a Time' was at the top of the Billboard 200 charts for 16 weeks. It was the most-consumed album in the U.S. for 2023, with Top 10 hits that included 'Last Night,' 'You Proof' and 'Thinkin’ Bout Me’. In 2021, Wallen's label suspended him indefinitely after video came to light of him shouting a racial slur. THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
