Headline: RAW VIDEO: Olympic Champion Karsten Warholm Completes 'Ice Hurdling' Challenge

Caption: Norway's Karsten Warholm is known for his unconventional training methods - and has surpassed himself with his latest ‘ice hurdling’ stunt. The reigning Olympic 400m hurdles champion is renowned for his explosive speed, relentless intensity, and an approach to preparation that often defies expectations. Yet, even by his own standards, his latest feat was extraordinary. In a daring display of athleticism and creativity, Warholm became the first person to hurdle on ice—sprinting across a frozen Norwegian lake wearing only shorts, spikes, and a fierce determination. Warholm's icy challenge took place on a vast, frozen expanse near Oslo, where temperatures plunged well below zero degrees Celsius and biting winds reached 54 km/h. Despite the harsh conditions, he tackled the challenge with his trademark intensity, hurdling over man-made obstacles on the slippery surface. "It was surprisingly easy to run on ice," Warholm said afterwards. "The spikes provided much better grip than expected, and once I felt confident, it was actually a very nice running experience." His specially adapted footwear played a crucial role. With the help of his coach, Leif Olav Alnes, Warholm's shoes were reinforced with 9mm studs at the front, allowing him to maintain balance and speed on the unforgiving ice. For Warholm, this was not simply a stunt—it was an extension of his innovative approach to training. "I do this because we like to train creatively, and it really shows the sport in a different way," he explained. "I also think it's a bit exotic for people to see Norway like this." This ice-hurdling feat follows a similar winter training session last year, when Warholm ran on snow at Oslo's Bislett Stadium. By pushing the boundaries of conventional training, Warholm believes he can bring fresh energy to athletics while preparing for future competitions. "Sessions like this won't win me a gold medal at the World Championships," he admitted. "But the playful attitude and approach that Leif and I have already brought us many golds, and will bring many more in the future."
