Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Man Charged Over Social Media Threat To Kill Trump

Caption: Man Charged Over Social Media Threat To Kill Trump. Trent Schneider, 57, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, was federally charged for allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump in a social media video. Prosecutors say Schneider posted a selfie-style Instagram video on Oct. 16 saying he would "get some guns" and that "people need to f------ die," specifically naming Trump. The video allegedly carried a caption including "THIS IS NOT A THREAT!!!" and referenced a house auction date of 11.04.2025 alongside the line "SHOULD BE EXECUTED!!!”. Authorities say Schneider reposted the same video and caption about 18 times between Oct. 16 and Oct. 21. A concerned citizen in Florida reported the video to law enforcement on Oct. 16, prompting an investigation and Schneider’s arrest. Schneider was charged with making a threat in interstate commerce to injure a person and is detained in federal custody ahead of a detention hearing. If convicted, he faces a maximum federal sentence of five years in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. The case underscores continued federal scrutiny of online threats against public officials and the role of public tips in prompting investigations.
