Headline: RAW VIDEO: Real Bears Love Marmalade Too! Playful Taste Test Reveals Paddington’s Favorite Treat Is A Hit
Caption: A group of bears has proven that even real-life bears have a taste for marmalade. As excitement builds around the upcoming film Paddington in Peru, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in Bristol has brought the beloved bear’s marmalade obsession to life with a unique taste test for their Andean bears, the real-life counterparts to Paddington. In the playful experiment inspired by the film, the zoo’s spectacled bears chose between marmalade, jam, and peanut butter, raising awareness for the endangered Andean bear species in collaboration with the Spectacled Bear Conservation Society. Senior Animal Keeper Emily De Pasquale-Wood shared that marmalade was the undeniable favourite: “The bears loved all the treats but definitely lingered longest with the marmalade!” Emily added, “Tuichi, especially, was quite the messy eater—just like Paddington! She always gets her paws into mischief. We’re thrilled that marmalade came out as the winner.” With marmalade as the clear favourite, Noah’s Ark’s bears have shown they’re as fond of Paddington’s treat as the bear himself. The zoo, known for its dedication to endangered species, actively supports the Spectacled Bear Conservation Society’s work in Peru, focusing on community empowerment, scientific research, and habitat protection to safeguard these bears. Native solely to South America, spectacled bears face a grim outlook due to habitat loss and climate change, with fewer than 2,500 mature individuals estimated to remain in the wild. In recent months, devastating wildfires have threatened Peru’s ecosystems, impacting Andean bear habitats. This year alone, Peru has seen roughly 10,400 fires, doubling previous records and burning nearly 2.5 times more land. Marketing Coordinator Molly Shutt said, “With the recent wildfires in Peru, we felt it was crucial to highlight the real-life ‘Paddington’ bear’s situation. We hope this fun activity encourages Paddington fans to learn more about Andean bears and to support wildlife conservation in Peru.”
