Prosecutors allege the man accused of killing right-wing activist Charlie Kirk confessed in a note left for his roommate, who was also his romantic partner. Tyler Robinson, 22, is charged with aggravated murder and six other offences after Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University last week. Prosecutors say Robinson wrote: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it.” They also revealed text messages in which Robinson allegedly told his roommate he opened fire because he had “had enough of his hatred”. Robinson made his first court appearance on Tuesday, appearing remotely as the seven charges were read. He remains in custody without bail in a special unit at Utah County Jail. Prosecutors have confirmed they will seek the death penalty over the rooftop shooting, which left Kirk dead from a single gunshot.
