Caption: China Lifts Export Curbs On Car Chips In Move To Ease Global Trade Tensions. China has lifted export restrictions on key computer chips used by carmakers, a decision expected to ease pressure on global supply chains. The commerce ministry confirmed that exports made by Chinese-owned Nexperia for civilian use are now exempt from controls a relief for automakers across Europe that had warned of imminent production shutdowns. The move is part of a broader effort to ease trade tensions between Beijing and Washington, following an October agreement between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump to pause tariffs and other restrictive measures for a year. China has also suspended an export ban on semiconductor materials to the US and waived port fees for American ships. The EU’s trade commissioner Maroš Šefčovič welcomed the decision, calling it a step toward restoring stable, predictable semiconductor flows. Carmakers including Volkswagen, Volvo, and Jaguar Land Rover had warned that chip shortages could soon halt production without this intervention.
