Caption: The King Of Cool's Sunday Car: Steve McQueen's Rare 1952 Hudson Wasp Set To Fetch A Fortune At Auction. Hollywood legend Steve McQueen's beloved 1952 Hudson Wasp is heading under the hammer. The striking Two-Door Brougham will be offered by RM Sotheby's next month and is expected to ignite a bidding frenzy. McQueen, forever known as the “King of Cool,” was a silver screen icon and a passionate car enthusiast. In the 1950s, Hudson dominated NASCAR with its step-down chassis and high-performance racing pedigree, sweeping 27 of 34 races in 1952. McQueen's sleek Two-Door Brougham stood out for its short wheelbase, muscle under the bonnet, and undeniable style. According to his widow Barbara Minty, McQueen “loved and babied” the Hudson, often driving it around Santa Paula and even using it as his “Sunday-go-to-church” car. With most of its original paint and interior intact, the car shows just 63,537 miles on the odometer. Following his death in 1980, the Wasp appeared at his estate auction before joining the Petersen Automotive Museum, where it has been displayed for nearly two decades. The piece of racing and Hollywood history is expected to fetch between $40,000 and $60,000 at RM Sotheby's Hershey sale on October 8–9, 2025.
