Caption: Gaza-Bound Flotilla Attacked by Drones Near Greece, Activists Unharmed. Organisers of a Gaza-bound flotilla report explosions and multiple drone attacks targeting some of their boats near Greece. The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) said: “Multiple drones, unidentified objects dropped, communications jammed and explosions heard from a number of boats.” German human rights activist Yasemin Acar reported that five vessels had been attacked, while 15–16 drones were sighted. Activists also experienced radio jamming and loud music interference during the drone attacks. Videos posted by the flotilla showed explosions, including one recorded from the Spectre boat, and multiple drones targeting vessels. Brazilian activist Thiago Avila said four boats were “targeted with drones throwing devices” during another explosion. Earlier this month, the flotilla experienced similar drone attacks while stationed in Tunisia, but no passengers or crew were harmed. The flotilla, which includes Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, set sail from Barcelona in late August to “break the illegal siege of Gaza.” Israel stated it would not allow the flotilla to reach Gaza, having blocked two earlier attempts by activists in June and July.
