Headline: RAW VIDEO: Animals Evacuated From Australian Wildlife Sanctuary After Devastating Floods

Caption: A wildlife sanctuary in Australia has been forced to evacuate animals following severe flooding caused by days of torrential rain. Located in the Barrington Tops National Park, Aussie Ark’s sanctuary has been devastated by over 500mm of rain in just four days, causing the normally calm Hunter River to transform into a raging torrent. The extreme weather has wreaked havoc on the site’s infrastructure - flooding enclosures, washing out roads, and damaging crucial fencing that protects endangered species. Despite being cut off by rising waters, Aussie Ark’s team remains on the ground, working tirelessly to safeguard the animals. Every animal has been accounted for and is currently in good health, with staff implementing emergency measures to keep them safe, dry, and secure. Among the species relocated to safety were Tasmanian Devils, Eastern Quolls, and the famous hand-raised Potoroo, Dandarah. These animals were moved to the sanctuary’s newly constructed Vet Block, which became a temporary crisis centre. Emergency food drops were also coordinated to ensure the animals continued to receive nourishment despite disrupted supply chains. The recovery process is ongoing, with the team already making significant strides in repairing fences, restoring enclosures, and replacing bedding for the animals. While the immediate response has been successful, the full recovery will take months, and the Sanctuary’s infrastructure will need to be rebuilt to withstand future weather events. “We’re seeing real progress, but the road ahead is long,” said Tim Faulkner, Managing Director of Aussie Ark. “With continued support, we’ll ensure Aussie Ark remains a safe haven for our endangered wildlife for years to come.” To support the rebuilding efforts, a flood appeal has been launched, with vital contributions already received from partners such as Re\:wild and WildArk.
