Laura and Lee McCann run Mum Made Meals in Grantham, which they say is constantly targeted by thieves. They shared the video online as just the latest example, in which the yob made off with £200 worth of goods. Their camera shows a teenager, who was wearing a football shirt as a balaclava, clearing out their fridge just after 1am. He then stuck his middle finger up at their doorbell camera and waved goodbye as he made off with the items. Mrs McCann says the cake shed is hit by thieves on a weekly basis, whether by people not paying the correct amounts, using fake money or outright stealing. “You’re picking on a family business. There’s only so much we can take before it gets to the point of no more,” she said. “People say just close it down — it’s our business, it’s not a hobby.” Her cousin, Terri-Ann Lee, has launched a GoFundMe page to help the business invest in more secure storage. The hope is to get the couple a vending machine, which could cost in the thousands. More than £120 has been raised for the cause so far. Mrs McCann said: “The support from Grantham is 100% what keeps us going. We say all the time that we don’t know what we’ve done so right to deserve everybody’s back — the support is overwhelming.” They added that the theft came at the “worst possible time” as the couple had to close their kitchen last week due to the heat, so staff worked extra hard to make those cakes. “It’s not nice to wake up to that footage on a Monday morning, so fingers crossed for the police,” they added. “Thank you all for the support.” Lincolnshire Police has confirmed that its investigations are ongoing.
