Caption: Inside A Wildfire: Astonishing Footage Shows 'Airport Fire' Raging In California. This astonishing timelapse footage captured by UC San Diego's ALERTCalifornia's camera network shows what it's like to be inside the Orange County 'Airport Fire' as it reached their monitoring station at Santiago Peak on the night and morning of 9 and 10 September 2024. The fast-moving wildfire has spread across Orange and Riverside counties, destroying homes and forcing thousands of residents to evacuate. The blaze, which started on Monday near Trabuco Canyon, has already consumed nearly 20,000 acres and remains entirely uncontained, according to reports late on Tuesday. The fire began around 1 p.m. on Monday near a remote-controlled airplane airfield on Trabuco Creek Road. Within hours, it has scorched more than 5,400 acres of vegetation in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. Cal Fire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, has issued mandatory evacuation orders, urging residents to leave immediately. Firefighting crews, both on the ground and in the air, have been working to contain the blaze, but have struggled due to high temperatures and dry conditions. The Airport Fire is just one of several wildfires currently raging in Southern California, as the region battles yet another intense fire season.
