Caption: Israel Faces Expulsion from Eurovision in November Vote. National broadcasters will vote in early November on whether Israel can participate in Eurovision 2026. Countries including Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and the Netherlands have threatened to boycott the contest if Israel is allowed to take part citing its war in Gaza and the worsening humanitarian crisis. Eurovision is run by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), an alliance of public service media with 113 members in 56 countries. The EBU’s executive board sent a letter to the director generals of all member broadcasters informing them about the upcoming vote. Discussions about Israel’s participation began in June at a meeting of national broadcasters in London and follow similar controversy last year. The contest maintains that it is “non-political” but previously banned Russia in 2022 after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Israel’s national broadcaster KAN is continuing to prepare to select its representative for the contest in Vienna in May. KAN emphasized that Eurovision should remain a celebration of music and creativity and should not be politicized. Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
