Headline: RAW VIDEO: Otterly Chilled! Cute Critters Cool Off At Knockhatch Adventure Park

Caption: Otters at Knockhatch Adventure Park in East Sussex have found a delightful way to beat the summer heat - an otter ice party! Sumatra and Padawan, a pair of short-clawed Asian otter siblings, loved their pool filled with ice. The inquisitive otters playfully rolled around, chewed on the icy treats, and even pushed ice cubes onto a nearby bench. The ice also serves to replicate their natural behaviours, such as prizing open freshwater crustaceans. Zoo supervisor Alana Lay-Flurrie, 25, captured the otters' excitement on camera. "The ice is a thrilling new experience for them," she said. "Despite being five years old, they still have a playful spirit. It's a wonderful opportunity for visitors to observe their natural behaviours and learn more about these fascinating creatures." Asian short-clawed otters are the smallest otter species, they face threats from habitat destruction, pollution, and the illegal pet trade. They are commonly found in wetlands and mangroves in Southeast Asia. Efforts to protect otters include habitat restoration, anti-poaching measures, legal protection, and captive breeding programmes. Conservationists also work to raise public awareness about the importance of otters in aquatic ecosystems and the threats they face.
