Headline: UNCAPTIONED: LEGO's Green Ambition A Sustainable Future for LEGO Bricks

Caption: LEGO aims to shift to renewable plastics by 2032, moving away from fossil fuel-based materials. Currently, LEGO uses a combination of fossil fuel-based and renewable materials to produce its bricks. After testing over 600 materials of varying success, LEGO is intensifying efforts to use sustainable materials. In the first half of 2024, 22% of LEGO’s materials were from renewable and recycled sources, a rise from 12% in 2023. The cost of renewable resin is 70% higher, but LEGO vows to absorb these costs without affecting consumer prices. "The costs of these materials will not be passed on to the consumers – it will be absorbed by the LEGO Group on our bottom line." LEGO Statement. LEGO's revenue rose by 13% and consumer sales by 14% in the first half of 2024, reflecting strong growth. "We delivered double-digit growth on the top- and bottom-line and made significant progress on increasing the amount of sustainable materials used in our products." Niels B. Christiansen, CEO. Plastic recycling remains a global challenge, with only 5% to 6% recycled in the US despite its production scale. Critics argue that recycled plastics may pose more health risks and question the viability of bioplastics. Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
