Caption: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Received Rental Income From Royal Lodge Cottages, Watchdog Finds. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor received undisclosed rental income from sub-letting three cottages on the Royal Lodge estate, according to a report by the National Audit Office. The report also found that King Charles III pays the rent for accommodation used by Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice in royal palaces. The two princesses, who are not working royals, have homes in Kensington Palace and St James's Palace, with rent paid through the monarch's private funds. The watchdog reviewed royal residences for the first time in two decades and found Andrew and his family had access to 12 properties owned by the Crown Estate or Royal Household. Andrew paid £7.5 million for repairs when he took on the Royal Lodge lease, meaning he was not required to pay monthly rent. The report said three cottages on the estate were sub-let until April 2026, although the amount of rental income received was not disclosed. Palace sources said the cottages were rented to staff or former staff and the income only covered running costs. The findings come ahead of a further inquiry by MPs into royal residences and finances following scrutiny of Andrew's affairs.
