Caption: 17-Year-Old Gout Gout Breaks 10-Second Barrier Twice in One Day. Australian sprinter Gout Gout, 17, broke the 10-second barrier for the 100m twice in the same day at the Australian Athletics Championships. Gout clocked 9.99 seconds in both the under-20 100m heat and the final, but neither time will count due to high tailwinds. The teenager’s achievement marks his first time going under 10 seconds, an impressive milestone in his young career. Gout has drawn comparisons to Usain Bolt, with some calling him one of the fastest teens globally. In the heats, Gout raced through with ease, saving energy for the final, where he clocked the same time of 9.99 seconds. Gout didn’t get the best start in the final but quickly powered through to finish strong, crossing the line at the same time as the heat. Both of Gout’s times were assisted by illegal tailwinds: 3.5m/s in the heat and 2.6m/s in the final. Earlier this year, Gout ran a world-leading time of 20.05 seconds in the 200m, just shy of his Australian record. In March, he became the first Australian to break the 20-second barrier in the 200m with a time of 19.98 seconds, but it was also aided by illegal winds. Despite his success, Gout remains focused on his training, staying grounded as he aims for further improvement and personal records.
