Caption: Ford Recalls Over 100,000 Trucks Over Rear Axle Issue. Close to 113,000 Ford F-150s have been recalled due to an issue that could result in power loss or cause the vehicle to roll away when parked, CBS News reports. "Both of these conditions can increase the risk of a crash," according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 2021-2023 vehicles "equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design" are at risk, the NHTSA says. The hub bolt on the rear axle "may fatigue and break... which can result in damage to the axle hub splines." Owners of the affected pickups are being advised to take their trucks "to a dealer for a temporary repair," CBS News reports. Ford doesn't have a permanent solution at this time but is working to develop one. Ford owners with questions can call (866) 436-7332. The recall number is "23S65." The NHTSA's safety hotline can also provide information and be reached at (888) 327-4236. Over 230,000 Ford Explorers were recalled in October in the U.S. due to a similar issue, CBS News reports.
