Headline: RAW VIDEO: New Baby Monitor Can 'Translate Babies' Cries Using AI'
Caption: For parents, trying to work out what their babies’ cries mean can be an extra headache on top of all the other responsibilities that come with parenthood. If it’s not immediately clear what’s wrong, the feeling of helplessness in attempting to console a wailing baby can be overwhelming. However, a new baby monitor product promises to break the communication barrier between parent and infant. The Maxi-Cosi See Pro 360° Baby Monitor is equipped with CryAssist technology powered by artificial intelligence, which the firm claim can decode a baby's cries, providing caregivers with a better understanding of the child's needs. Distinguishing itself from conventional smart monitors that merely detect cries, this AI-infused baby monitor helps determine whether the child is sleepy, fussy, gassy, agitated, or hungry. The technology is tailored to babies up to six months old. It enables parents to remotely monitor their infants through a 5” display with two-way talk and MicroSD card recording, or via their smartphones. Developed by Zoundream, the AI technology interprets crying, providing new parents with insights into their baby’s mood. Typically, new parents experience sleep deprivation in their initial months as they navigate the challenge of understanding their babies' cries through trial and error. So it is hoped that the new monitor could also help parents getter a better night’s sleep. Zoundream harnessed the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, drawing from over 100,000 hours of crying baby recordings and other data inputs, to create CryAssist. The Acoustic MultiStage Interpreter continuously analyses the ambient sound using multi-stage, deep-learning models to decode the meaning behind babies' cries. The technology boasts cry detection accuracy just shy of 90% and cry translation accuracy exceeding 90%. The See Pro 360° also incorporates standard baby monitor features, including a 2K Ultra HD camera with night vision, a built-in sound soother, temperature and humidity sensors, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, and a baby diary to monitor diaper changes, feeding, and more. A complimentary 6-month subscription to CryAssist accompanies the product, aiding parents throughout their first year with a newborn. The Maxi-Cosi See Pro 360° Baby Monitor is available to buy for $199 (£157.35).
